  • Doors are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
  • Reception desk is open from 08:30 am to 6:00 pm.
  • Phone lines are manned until 6:30 pm
  • Outside of these hours, for urgent enquires that cannot wait, please phone 111.
  • Unless stated otherwise (e.g. bank holidays)
  • Calls for same day clinical help start at 08:00 am and close at 11:00 am.
  • HOWEVER, due to capacity reasons and patient safety, triage may close earlier to allow patients requiring urgent matters to be prioritised first.
  • There is ONE on-call clinician from 17:00 to 18:30.
  • Outside of these hours, if you are unable to wait, please call 111.
  • Castle Surgery is usually closed on evenings from 6:30pm and on weekends.
  • We do however open for special events, like vaccination clinics for flu and covid-19 which patients will be invited to before the day in advance.
  • We are also closed on Bank Holidays unless otherwise stated.
  • Appointments can be made by telephoning our reception team on 01639 622 050. The reception team are trained to ask brief clinical details in order for the clinician to prioritise more urgent enquiries first.
  • When Castle Surgery is closed, please phone 111 if you have an urgent medical problem and you’re not sure what to do or seek help from the appropriate NHS services.
  • If you are unsure and want to know who to contact, take a look at our page for getting help or choosewellwales.org.uk
  • Come to the front entrance of the building. You may need to queue to get help at reception desk. Once you’ve checked in, if there’s space, please take a seat in the waiting room. Once your clinician is ready, they will come and collect you.
  • Please note, due to demand and unforseen circumstances, your appointment may be delayed.

Can’t make your appointment?

  • It’s now very rare as patients are keen to attend when given appointments same day. If for any reason you know you can’t make it, please give us a call.
  • Not only does it mean we could offer the slot to someone else who might need it, but we also know your situation and can make plans perhaps to reschedule.
  • As a last resort, persistent non-attenders will be requested to meet with the Practice Manager to resolve any outstanding issues.
  • Thank you for your interest in this.
  • We are already testing and working behind the scenes to deliver a form of online platform.
  • We hope that as we begin to introduce online access for those that are able, it may improve access for those that may only be able to use our phone lines.
